About Kris Jones

Design is  a process of discovery. I help people discover who they are and what they stand for by uncovering the beauty I see in them, their work, their values and beliefs. I help people to feel seen.

Here’s What I Believe
Good design is empowering.  Lofty? Think about it: when we express ourselves visually, we have the chance to literally show people who we are; our essence, if you will. 

Good design is clean. Clutter belongs in your basement, not on your website or packaging. It distracts the viewer from seeing who you really are.  

Good design comes from collaboration; Good design comes from trust. 
Rinse. Repeat.


Why Knock on the Red Door?
Red Door Designs is a small shop designing big things. Great things like logos and websites and a workable time travel machine (okay not that last one).

When you hire Red Door, you hire ME. That’s a good thing, because I'm really good at what I do.  
*Except for driving.  In fact, I was voted "Worst Driver" in high school. Which technically makes me really good at driving badly.

1. I strip away the typical clutter to help you find your core message. 
   
2. I transform what can feel like an overwhelming project into  bite-sized delicious pieces. Yum!
   
3. I believe in transparency, so I have an open door policy on my pricing.
   Note: transparency ≠ invisibility superpower. Bummer.
   
4. I ask lots of questions. Lots. I’m like Oprah, only taller (and less expensive shoes).
   Why the third degree? I know I can only create effective designs by really learning about my clients and their industries. The result? Better design for you, loads of new skills for me! Skills like:

• Speed bingo lingo
• How to make a Dragon's Milk Saké-tini (I didn’t name it-I just drank it)
• A perfect om-worthy one-legged king pigeon pose
• How to sew a blind hem stitch
• Ghost removal (Who you gonna call? That would now be me.)
  
• The importance of 3 piles: Keep, Donate, Trash.
  
• How to make greeting cards that offend and delight at the same time.
• The perfect brow wax (Do NOT try this on your cat. Seriously. )
